Port Discover
Port Discover is a new hands-on science center for kids and their families
to explore and interact with the science around them. It’s a community-based, non-profit organization, established to enhance the public’s
understanding and enjoyment of science through engaging programs, activities, and exhibits. Special attention is given to what’s unique about
North Carolina’s Albemarle. Program themes include Environmental and Marine Sciences, Aviation Science, Biology, Physical Sciences, Health & Wellness,
Agricultural Sciences, and Planetary Sciences.

Lighter-than-air ships have had a major impact on Elizabeth City’s history and economy. It is not uncommon
to see Monster.com, Sanyo, Fuji Film, and other blimps flying high above the city as they make their way to the US Naval Blimp Hangar. Visitors wishing
to tour the facility will get the opportunity to learn about the Navy’s lighter-than-air history in Elizabeth City as well as view the company’s
plant.
Tours are held on Wednesday at 3:00 pm and run 30 - 45 minutes.
All tours need to be arranged ahead of time.

Take a guided tour of our solar
system and venture out into the unknown depths of our universe. Under a star-filled dome, visitors will explore many wonders of astronomy, including,
Is there life beyond Earth? A limited number of evenings and shows are
offered during special occasions.
Open year-round to the public.
The Planetarium operates Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
All shows are free and by reservation only.
